If you’re looking to obtain a 3D printer for your school, it’s time to consider the Robox from CEL…

C Enterprise Limited (CEL) specialise in the development, manufacturing and marketing of innovative products including power tools, garden tools, floor care products, household appliances and now 3D printers! The Robox has been in the making at CEL since 2012, but after its successful launch in 2014, it is now available globally and over the past year has featured on the likes of Dragons Den, The Gadget Show, BBC, USA Today, Mail Online and Yahoo!

The CEL Robox was designed to make 3D printing accessible to all, including students and children and is therefore packed full of features which make it ideal for use within a school environment. It’s made from a single stainless steel frame attached to injection moulded parts which create a rigid, stable platform. And unlike many 3D printers on the market, the Robox offers a fully enclosed build chamber with a door that locks automatically during printing. The printer nozzle can reach up to 300˚C – so this is a huge safety feature for schools, especially those with younger – more inquisitive – students! An enclosed chamber also increases the accuracy of prints, as it prevents draughts which can cause prints to warp or even shrink.

The accuracy of your prints is also helped by the heated print bed offered by the Robox. A heated bed is imperative when printing in certain materials such as ABS, as it too will prevent warping. But whilst some 3D printers can take anything up to 20 mins to reach full temperature, the Robox takes an incredible 2-3 mins – far more ideal for teachers when setting up at the start of a lesson! The initial calibration can also be fiddly and frustrating, but with the CEL Robox it’s simple, as there’s no manual leveling required. Instead, the Robox automatically does this for you before printing!

Although schools aren’t locked in to using a specific brand of filament with their Robox printer, the SmartReel system available from CEL, provides some great benefits. Each filament SmartReel is fitted with a microchip that not only allows the Robox’s software to recognise the material and colour of the filament, but it will also automatically tell the printer what temperature the print bed and nozzles need to reach. As if this wasn’t enough, the SmartReel system can also detect the amount of filament left on the reel and if there isn’t enough to print, it will warn you beforehand.

Whilst the concept of 3D printing really is amazing, we often hear from schools that find printing can be slow. CEL have done their best to combat this and as such provide a single material dual nozzle head as standard with each Robox printer. One nozzle, at 0.8mm, can print quickly with a resolution of up to 400 microns, whilst the second nozzle is perfect for finer detail prints and can reach just 20 microns! And to enable faster prints, schools can use both nozzles on the same print. But perhaps one of the most exciting things about the Robox, is that it’s future-proof! CEL have designed the Robox so that it’s far more than just a 3D printer. Thanks to its Headlock system, the Robox has the capability of operating with different heads and therefore users will soon be able to upgrade so that it becomes a dual material printer, 3D scanner, stylus cutter and even milling head!

The CEL Robox is now available for schools through Utility Rentals’ simple and affordable rental contracts. Schools can select a rental package which best suits their needs and can choose whether to include installation and training of the 3D printer, as well as our unique onsite 3 year warranty. Plus, each school will also receive an exciting teacher pack with each 3D printer, as standard, so teachers can easily introduce 3D printing to their lessons.
