In 1890 Leighton Park School was opened by members of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers). In the past 125 years the school has developed extensively and the school roll has grown to 450. Over the years, the school grounds have improved dramatically as well.

The 1980’s saw the addition of Astroturf, a library and a science and technology centre, a central dining facility in 2004 and the Caradon Sixth Form Centre was opened in 2006. But most recently, in 2014, a new Food Technology facility was opened and it was the responsibility of Alan Rumney, Head of Estates at Leighton Park School, to source new appliances.

As with the majority of schools looking to acquire new appliances, Alan wanted to consider outright purchase, as well as rental options. But after contacting Utility Rentals for a quotation, it soon become evident that renting new equipment was the most cost effective option.

Plus, when the contract has reached the end of its minimum term rental period, we have the option of upgrading the appliances again if we want to, so for us it’s a win-win situation.
