The Longriver Group was founded over 15 years ago. Its main purpose was to act as advisor to organisations in funding capital expenditure and to act as a lessor for any items of plant and machinery. Longriver pioneered the use of tax based heat leasing with local authorities and is now the acknowledged market leader. Leasing facilities for gas central heating equipment alone had grown in excess of £90 million by the start of the new millennium, resulting in warmer homes for some 100,000 social tenants throughout the UK. These operating leases have been an integral and major component of affordable warmth policies undertaken by Housing Authorities or part of a package of energy efficiency measures.

Affiliated to the Group is Longriver Limited, a leasing consultancy and the originator and developer of the Rental Plan for gas central heating. Mileshield Commercial Funding Limited was set up to act as the lessor for the Longriver Rental Plan.
